In this painting, I’ve explored the beauty that is to be found at the edge of a small bass pond. The same gentle water presents itself so differently as light transitions from sun to shade. Colors are amplified under the leafy canopy and washed out in the glare beyond.

In this piece, I worked to capture the fall colors of backlit grapevines all in one go with the water color wet allowing colors freely mixing on the paper.

The bluffs north of Half Moon Bay are one of my favorite places for fresh air and great views. For a brief time each year the bluffs are splashed with the fresh colors of spring.

This cluster of evergreens has a moment in the sun on a summer ski slope.

I don’t remember seeing so many snowy egrets when I was growing up in the Bay Area. I am certain there are more of them now and I delight each time I see them. They often appear alone. When in pairs their behavior can vacillate between cooperative, oblivious and intimidating.

I listened to a lot of Tom Petty while I was painting a series of watercolors with guitars and the shadows cast on the wall on which they hang. One of the seven guitars in this painting is reminiscent of a Rickenbacker Tom Petty played.

This painting received an award through the Los Gatos Art Association in April, 2018.

The magnificent old oak that anchored the Gamble Garden is gone. This painting is my goodbye.
