Oasis

It’s hard to choose a favorite trail in the Indian Canyons area of Palm Springs but easy to to select a favorite time … Spring!  2023 was a particular treat with a high water volume and a profusion of yellow blooms on the hills in the distance. I created this piece using my April reference photos and a watercolor study I painted on the spot. In this painting I’m striving to create a sense of distance while retaining the feeling of being enveloped by these native California palms.
