Autumn is such a glorious time of the year in Yosemite and the Sierra’s. I am so fortunate for good weather, great friends and time to take it all in while painting.

Mariposa

In Mariposa I stayed on the property of an amazing watercolor artist and printmaker who indulged a bunch of us with time in her studio learning a bit about mono-printing. It was great to have superb instruction along with access to a terrific press, inks and paper. Her property has views for miles and wonderful moss covered boulders which I enjoyed painting in between things.
Merced National Wildlife Refuge

I am so glad that we were encouraged to stop here on our way home. I have wanted to see the winter migration of Sandhill Cranes this area is noted for. As it turned out, these amazing birds were there flying overhead and in a distant field as we were painting. Pretty magical!
