I painted this with friends at a spot just west of Sentinel Beach. We were able to enjoy shade and the magic of the Merced River while seeing a pretty crowded beach in the distance.

The trail to the Vernal and Nevada falls is stunning. In several places, and particularly here astride the Emerald Pool, there rainbows add to the magic.

This historic hotel is nestled into the heart of Yosemite Valley. In this view, we are seeing the stone buildings set between a green lawn and towering granite.

This spot along the Merced River is just a short walk from one of the major parking area. Still, I was able to settle in and paint on a beautiful summer afternoon with just a few people passing by on the shady trail. While I was painting, I was able to enjoy the passing of rafters and tubers cooling off in the Merced River.
