The bluffs north of Half Moon Bay are one of my favorite places for fresh air and great views. For a brief time each year the bluffs are splashed with the fresh colors of spring.

In this piece, I sought to convey a sense of sunshine on a humid day as this red sailed junk traversed Halong Bay amongst its distinctive rock formations.
I hadn’t explored the Whitehouse Trail area of Ano Nuevo before the pandemic but it became a treasured spot for fresh air, coastal views and painting.
A collector who appreciated an 8″ x 10″ plein air piece I completed onsite asked me if I could paint a similar view in a 18″ x 24″ format.
What a fun project and great to learn that “Ano Nuevo Bluffs” was so happily received and displayed in the collector’s new San Francisco home.

The Sea Scout Ship Viking calls Aquatic Park home and in this piece San Francisco unfolds in sun and shadow patterns in the background. The red SSS Viking is the boat used by young Bay Area women Sea Scouts.
