I painted this with a group of painters at Noyo Harbor in Fort Bragg. I was captivated by the effects of the morning sun and the reflections of the boats and sky.

Nestled near June Lake, these two aspen trees share a quiet intimacy, their slender forms leaning gently toward one another as if caught in a delicate dance. I was drawn to the way the golden autumn leaves shimmered in the crisp mountain light, framing the trees in a moment of connection.— companions swaying in rhythm with the season’s change.

I’ve painted at Natural Bridges State Park in Santa Cruz many times. This time, I focused on creating an active expressive sky while observing the coming and goings of pelicans and gulls.
A week of painting our beautiful coast with a 25 artists. I went with 3 friends I frequently paint with. We kind of liked being referred to as the “Fab Four” while enjoying making new artist friends. Artist John Hewitt arranged it all. I am hoping to join again next year.

The “Matthew Turner” is a beauty and at 132 feet it is the largest vessel I painted for the series. This view takes in the elegant wooden tall ship dockside in Sausalito. The Matthew Turner is a brigantine with a mix of rigging styles for enhanced speed and maneuverability. The ship to the right is the “Seaward.”

This painting takes in the tranquility of a quiet nook on San Francisco Bay that I think has a bit of a European look.
