Navarro Beach Morning

12″ x 16″ oil on linen panel

In this coastal scene from Mendocino, I’ve focused on that quiet, fleeting moment when the morning sun begins to burn through the lingering fog. The air is fresh, the beach is hushed and rising tide is creeping closer. You might get your feet wet if you linger too long.

Dancing Aspen

8″ x 6″ oil on linen panel

Nestled near June Lake, these two aspen trees share a quiet intimacy, their slender forms leaning gently toward one another as if caught in a delicate dance. I was drawn to the way the golden autumn leaves shimmered in the crisp mountain light, framing the trees in a moment of connection.— companions swaying in rhythm with the season’s change.

Windswept Arch

6″ x 8″ oil (sold)

I’ve painted at Natural Bridges State Park in Santa Cruz many times. This time, I focused on creating an active expressive sky while observing the coming and goings of pelicans and gulls.

Albion Plein Air Retreat

A week of painting our beautiful coast with a 25 artists. I went with 3 friends I frequently paint with. We kind of liked being referred to as the “Fab Four” while enjoying making new artist friends. Artist John Hewitt arranged it all. I am hoping to join again next year.

Evening Brigantine

6” x 6” oil on panel

The “Matthew Turner” is a beauty and at 132 feet it is the largest vessel I painted for the series. This view takes in the elegant wooden tall ship dockside in Sausalito. The Matthew Turner is a brigantine with a mix of rigging styles for enhanced speed and maneuverability. The ship to the right is the “Seaward.”
