I had to move fast to capture the ephemeral nature of fog as it dissipates with the morning sun. This was painted at one of my favorite coastal spots in Half Moon Bay.

Erosion along coastal California produces varied forms and reminds us of the passage of time. In this piece I leaned into the juxtaposition of warm and cool tones.

I painted this goose and goslingĀ from a photo I took at a local park. I love that this mother and babe were venturing out … albeit cautiously.

In this plein air painting, I am striving to catch the raking early morning light on a side street in Almaden Valley.

The bluffs north of Half Moon Bay are one of my favorite places for fresh air and great views. For a brief time each year the bluffs are splashed with the fresh colors of spring.

In this piece, I sought to convey a sense of sunshine on a humid day as this red sailed junk traversed Halong Bay amongst its distinctive rock formations.

I painted this studio piece of a place I love along the central California coast as a commissioned painting for a collector who had been attracted to my plein air painting of the scene.
6″ x 8″ oil on linen panel
This painting is a personal favorite. It’s hanging in our living room. After month’s of corona virus shut down and painting backyard flowers. I painted this en plein air at a favorite Pescadero area beach with a friend I hadn’t seen in months. 10’+ apart and masked up. Still … so special to chat, paint and watch for off shore dolphins.

I love the Big Sur cliffs in Garrapata State Park. In this piece, I am chasing the feel of the fresh air and the sound of the surf.
