Sometimes all you need is a shoulder. Nice to also have a harbor.

I have painted these two little rowboats several times. I’m drawn to the rough but cozy intimacy between them.

I painted this in late summer at Guglielmo vineyards in Morgan Hill. I love painting there and can strongly commend their petite sirah.

This was painted on site just off of California’s iconic Highway 1 at South Pescadero Road. It was Memorial Day which began with clouds and progressed to brilliant sunshine.

I painted this Lake Tahoe plein air piece in the shade at the Gatekeeper’s Museum in Tahoe City.

This was painted onsite at the stunning Maison du Lac in the hills above Los Gatos. The gardens there blend within a redwood forest. The gardens have been developed as a lifetime labor of love. Speaking of love … Maison du Lac is available for use as an exquisite wedding location.

I could have reached out and touched the vines.  Instead I painted them. After which, I enjoyed a lovely estate grown 2015 Grignolino. The vineyard is in Morgan Hill which has retained much of the agricultural feel of long ago pre-tech decades.
