Intertidal Morning

16″ x 20″ Oil on linen panel

In this piece I was interested in a coastal composition emphasizing the diagonals. I also hope to give the viewer a sense that their feet might just get wet.

Crossing Tenaya Creek

15″ x 15″ oil on linen panel

This piece developed from a watercolor sketch I did alongside Tenaya Creek on the way to Mirror Lake in Yosemite. Here, I’m striving to bring the viewer into the scene while capturing the movement and play of dappled light. There’s a particular atmosphere by a rushing stream rapid movement, varied colors and the play of dappled light.

Serene Reflections

10″ x 8″ oil on linen panel

There was so much going as I was painting the pond at the Japanese Friendship Garden in San Jose that I had to decide what I was going to focus on. So … the heron, egret, koi and blooming waterlilies are left for another time as I gave my attention to the greens and golds in the water and the reflection of a sunshiny sky.

Pacific Grove in Magenta

9″ x 12″ (sold)

These sandstone rock formations always remind me of creatures slithering into the sea. Here, I’ve painted them covered bright pink ice plant. I know this ice plant isn’t native. Still, I like having it in this spot more than the poison ivy that I have come to understand was here before it was introduced.

Morning at the Stables

9″ x 12″ oil on linen panel

This scene was painted on location at Quail Hollow Ranch, nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The warm morning light reflecting off the horse trailer initially drew my attention, and I was captivated by the interplay of light and shadow. As I continued painting, a rider on horseback passed by and I decided to add them to add life to the setting.
