Members Show – LGAA

2/2/2026 – 3/31/2026

I have two pieces that are in this year’s show one of which received an Honorable Mention for my painting “Waking Canyon.”

I painted” Waking Canyon on site it the fall at McGee Canyon in the Eastern Sierras. The second painting “Beneath Carson Peak” is a larger piece that I painted in my home studio using small oil paintings I did along this stretch of Rush Creek In the June Lakes area.

I really appreciated that the awards juror, Warren Chang, provided comments about each of the paintings selected for ribbons. I was kind of blown away that five of us who have become plein air painting friends each won awards which made. So fun to share the moment with them and the studio painters who also received ribbons. There a link to view the show online at the Los Gatos Art Association website.

So delighted to learn that my painting “Intertidal Morning” was awarded second place as part of the Los Gatos Art Association’s “Artist of the Year” event. This group has been instrumental in the development of my art practice and it bring me in contact with amazing painter friends. I particularly appreciate the organization’s Monday plein air painting group.

50|50 Show – Sanchez Art Center

9/7/2025 – 10/5/2025

50 artists showing 50 pieces of art created within 50 days as part of the 17th annual 50|50 show hosted by the Sanchez Art Center in Pacifica. The small 6″ x 6″ pieces are installed in artist specific grids which makes it a delight to take it all in. Each of us has chosen a theme. Mine is “Sailboats in Cerulean and Gold.”

This year’s jurors have been Melissa Kreisa and Rose Sellery who are Co-Directors of M. K. Contemporary Art Gallery in Santa Cruz. I am so delighted to be included in this very low-key and fun show. I am also so very appreciative of the folks at the Sanchez Art Center who have this event very well organized for artists and visitors.

The Sanchez Art Center is located at 220-B Linda Mar in Pacifica. The drive to Pacifica is lovely and there are some delightful restaurants in the area. One of my favorites is Nicks at Rockaway Beach. I love their crab sandwich and the incredible views. Do make a reservation. If you’re more in the mood for scenic cliffside stroll, the Devil’s Slide Trail provides easy walking on what used to be the highway before the tunnel. So … even if it is a bit of a haul to get to Pacifica it’ll feel like a mini vacation by the time you take in the views and art and a nice meal.
