When I bring visitors to Yosemite for the first time I like to enter the park from the south. The drama of this view as we emerge from a tunnel is the reason. In this view the view is framed by a Western Redbud in all of its April glory.

Tiny calliope hummingbirds occasionally add to the magic that is Yosemite in the summer. I also appreciate the tenacity of penstemon emerging from granite fissures.

Yosemite offers a lifetime of discovery. I have only recently discovered the mix of granite and a small stream. In this piece we enjoy the fall colors. In the summer there are abundant wildflowers.

I painted this with friends at a spot just west of Sentinel Beach. We were able to enjoy shade and the magic of the Merced River while seeing a pretty crowded beach in the distance.
